NDIC recognizes Weeda with Resolution, Vigesaa named NDTA director

John Weeda, former North Dakota Transmission Authority Director was officially recognized for his service and dedication to the industry and the State through a Resolution of Appreciation last month. Signed by Governor Doug Burgum, Attorney General Drew Wrigley, and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring, the three members of the North Dakota Industrial Commission (NDIC), the Resolution of Appreciation notes Weeda’s more than 40 years of service with Great River Energy, more than 15 years of work on the EmPower Commission, and his most recent contributions to the North Dakota Transmission Authority. “John played a key role in the advancement of North Dakota’s energy policy at the national level, leading to the prioritizing of energy reliability,” read the Resolution, in part.

Claire Vigesaa has been selected to serve as the next executive director of the North Dakota Transmission Authority. Vigesaa retired in 2022 as general manager and CEO for the Upper Missouri Power Cooperative after a 40-year career in the electric cooperative industry. Vigesaa has been serving as deputy director of the Transmission Authority since retirement.
