West of Savage, Montana, 20 miles south of Sidney.
Mine production:
The Savage Mine produces about 350,000 tons every year with coal being sold to the Lewis & Clark Station and a nearby sugar beet processing facility.
Mine history:
The Savage Mine was purchased by Westmoreland Coal Company in 2001. However, the mine has been supplying coal to Montana-Dakota Utilities Co.’s Lewis & Clark Station in Sidney, Montana, since 1958.
