Bismarck Larks and Lignite Energy Council honor five outstanding teachers

At the August 14 Bismarck Larks games, five teachers from throughout North Dakota were recognized for their outstanding achievements in the classroom. This is the third year that the Lignite Energy Council has partnered with the Larks to recognize outstanding educators.

The overall winner was Alicia Marsh teaches Computer Programming, Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science, and Enriched Algebra 2 at Legacy High School in Bismarck.

The other teachers recognized at the baseball game were:

  • Josh Standing Elk, who teaches 4th grade at Dorothy Moses Elementary School in Bismarck.
  • Justin Boles, who was a first-grade substitute teacher at Solheim this past year. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree but still working as a substitute teacher.
  • Shawn Feiring teaches Agricultural Education at New Salem – Almont High School.
  • Trisha Elliot teaches first grade at Hankinson Public School.

All the winners received a bag of teaching supplies. Alicia also received a $1,000 check from the Lignite Energy Council to purchase STEM-related items for her classroom.

During the game, members of the Lignite Energy Council participated in a tail-gating event down the first baseline, with about 50 participants. The public announcer also listed several attributes about the lignite industry throughout the game.

This is the Lignite Energy Council’s fourth year of sponsorship of the Bismarck Larks.
