Minnesota Update – Minnesota Legislative Action Alert

From April 13-22, the Minnesota Legislature was on Easter/Passover break so there was no committee or floor activity during that time. The session will reconvene on Tuesday, April 23 and the House of Representatives will begin the debate on the Jobs and Energy Omnibus bill, HF2208, at 9:00 a.m. The bill is expected to take over 3-4 hours of debate as there are over 80 amendments that will be introduced. If you want to watch the live debate please visit: MN House Live Stream

Included in HF2208 is the proposed 100% carbon free energy mandate, which is very harmful to North Dakota’s lignite industry. Around 50% of the electricity that our lignite mines and power plants produce is sent through transmission lines to provide power to over one million homes and businesses in Minnesota. The mandate would greatly damage North Dakota’s economy and end the exportation of our homegrown electricity to our neighbor to the east.

We have created an action alert for Minnesota residents to voice your opposition to this proposal in a format that can be easily transmitted to Minnesota legislators.
