Since the global agreement set aside most policy issues and the two energy committee chairs could not agree due to disagreements over the clean energy first mandate highlighted in the article above, there was very little energy policy included in the final bill. The result of the process cast aside the two most harmful energy proposals for the lignite industry in the 100% carbon free energy mandate by 2050 and the clean energy first mandate.

During the short interim between the regular session and the special session, the House and Senate held separate hearings to publicly present and provide comments on the final bill that was agreed upon by leadership and the committee members.
