Social and Governance (ESG) programs are employed by banks and insurance companies. They are a formidable challenge as the companies in the lignite industry work to stay competitive in the marketplace. With the North Dakota Legislature in session, the LEC may be asking lawmakers for relief. A study of ESGs and their effect on the lignite industry is now underway.
