The Lignite Energy Council is the trade association that supports and promotes the North Dakota coal industry. Administrative and Program Assistant

This position is responsible for administrative duties associated with education, stakeholder, and association event and special programs administration. This position is responsible for invoicing and payment processing for membership-related activities, serves as the event coordinator for stakeholder and PAC events, and administers the registration and execution of the annual Lignite Education Seminar under the guidance of the executive team. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primarily responsible for the administration of the Lignite Education Seminar to include:
    • Registration promotion
    • Registration management
    • Presenter coordination
    • Correspondence
    • Event preparation
  • Work with staff to plan and administer membership events, PAC fundraising events, and annual education seminar
  • Coordinate and manage event registrations for association events
  • Coordinate and manage association committees and Board of Directors meetings and correspondence
  • Work with staff to execute membership recruitment and new member orientation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all member/stakeholder questions
  • Processes invoices and payments
  • Manage stakeholder contact information data
  • Office administration duties to include:
    • Open and distribute mail
    • File, distribute, or address invoices
    • Maintain and order office supplies
    • Maintain and order food and beverages
    • Maintain and order kitchen supplies

Education and Experience; Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) software and computer knowledge are required
  • Valid drivers license required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress situations and multi-task with a smile
  • Ability to assess and prioritize initiatives in an environment of rapid change. Be able to react quickly to opportunities
  • Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and negotiate multiple stairs
