Two speakers at this year’s annual meeting – Terry Jarrett and Michelle Bloodworth – are among the best-known advocates for coal-based electricity in the United States. Jarrett will speak on April 15 and Bloodworth on April 16 at the Bismarck Event Center.
Jarrett is an energy attorney and consultant who has served on both the board of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissions and the Missouri Public Service Commission.
Bloodworth is president and chief executive officer of America’s Power, the only national trade association whose sole mission is to advocate at the state and federal level on behalf of coal-based electricity.
Besides the speakers, the annual meeting will also include an education panel moderated by Kirsten Basesler, North Dakota’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. The panel will focus on the local impacts of the lignite industry.
Members of North Dakota’s Congressional delegation have also been invited to speak on April 16.
The utilities and the mining companies will also be presenting mine and plant updates throughout the two-day meeting.
