Black Sands Golf Course of Beulah is located on the south side of Lake Sakakawea, in North Dakota’s energy country, and takes it’s name from the black coal slag bunkers. The public course, formerly known as Beulah Municipal Golf Course, has been in operation since 1953. Play this 9-hole course twice, and it measures 6,226 yards and plays to a par 70. The Lignite Council staff did some team-building by creating a homemade ornament for the North Dakota State Christmas tree. First Lady Kathryn Burgum gave the theme of "Lighting The Way" - lignite coal will certainly light the way! It's a DIY Christmas bulb filled with lignite coal and LED lights.....powered by coal, of course 😉
