The Lignite Energy Council will be at the North Dakota Republican Party Convention at the Bismarck Event Center Friday and Saturday, April 1 – 2, 2022. Stop by our booth to score swag and register to win our giveaway.
The North Dakota Democratic-NPL party held its hybrid Convention last week in Minot and online. Among the nominations set, Melanie Moniz was nominated for ND Public Service Commissioner, Fintan Dooley for ND Agriculture Commissioner, Tim Lamb for ND Attorney General, Katrina Christiansen for U.S. Senate, and Mark Haugen for U.S. House. The party is still seeking candidates for Secretary of State and Tax Commissioner.
The Biden administration has set a goal for the electric sector to be carbon-free by 2035. Last week, NRECA CEO Jim Matheson told a senate panel that achieving complete carbon-free electricity generation by 2035 is a standard that unduly threatens the electrical grid. Matheson said, “We can address these priorities – but it requires technology and time beyond what is currently available and what many have called for.” Read more about the hearing and testimony here.
For two years, the Lignite Energy Council has been producing video shorts featuring the people that are the lignite industry in North Dakota. Their stories and coal-supporting messages have graced the pages of publications, billboards, television ads, event round tables, and radio programs.
