The Lignite Energy Council is excited to announce our summer giveaway series supporting our Thank a Coal Worker campaign. As part of our summer giveaway series, we want to stir up a little friendly Coal Country competition and promotion and will be hosting several giveaways for events and Lignite Council swag throughout the summer.
The Lignite Council has partnered with ND Country Fest to promote the industry and we will be giving away VIP tickets to the ND Country Fest held July 6 – 9, in New Salem, ND. All you need to do to enter to win the VIP tickets is sign up to receive our Action Alerts.

The EPA’s Regional Haze Program consists of a series of regulations that require states to implement plans aimed at reducing potential visibility-impacting conditions with the goal of recreating visibility environments of more than 100 years ago. The program seeks to continually improve visibility beyond what is perceptible to the naked eye. Deadline to submit comments is June 1. Anyone in the United States is eligible to submit comments, you do not need to be a resident of North Dakota.

Abigail Meier, a senior at Legacy High School, and Raegan Miller, a senior at New Salem-Almont High School, are the 2022 recipients of the Jeff Burgess Memorial Scholarship Award.
The scholarship is awarded annually to seniors in Burleigh, Mercer, McLean, Morton, and Oliver County high schools who excel academically and are continuing their education in a science-related field.
Abigail will pursue a degree in medical laboratory sciences from the University of North Dakota and continue a career path in long-term research. Raegan plans to attend Bismarck State College and North Dakota State University School of Nursing while pursuing a career in anesthesiology.
The scholarship was established by the Lignite Energy Council following the death of Jeff Burgess in 2009. Jeff was the director of research and development for the Lignite Energy Council at the time of his death. He was a graduate of both Bismarck High School and North Dakota State University.
The Lignite Council is accepting registrations for both CoalPAC events occurring this summer and seeking sponsorships to support those events.
Partner & ND State CoalPAC Golf sponsorships need to be reserved by July 11, 2022 to be recognized appropriately.
